Melanie is a skilled Massage Therapist with more than eight years in the industry, working with professional athletes, public figures, and a diverse range of clients throughout the Twin Cities area. She holds a B.S. in Biomedical Science and an A.A.S. in Advanced Therapeutic Massage & Shiatsu Therapy. Her extensive training across multiple modalities equips her to address both acute and chronic pain, support recovery from workouts and sports-related injuries, release deep muscular tension, regulate the nervous system, improve mobility and enhance overall health.
Known for her intuition and effective, deep therapeutic approach, Melanie helps you feel at ease and find relief from complex conditions. She has helped clients find relief from whiplash, migraine headaches, tendonitis, frozen shoulder, chronic back pain, neck pain, scoliosis, tennis elbow, and other muscular disorders. During your session, she may integrate additional therapies such as cupping, gua sha, hot stones, CranioSacral, myofascial release, and shiatsu, as recommended or requested.
Melanie is also passionate about, and specializes in, Holistic Abdominal Relief Therapy (HART Method). This technique is a form of Maya Abdominal Therapy that offers targeted support for low back pain, psoas tension, hip pain, diaphragmatic tightness, abdominal discomfort, digestive concerns, and fertility challenges. The HART Method also supports emotional and spiritual centering, grounding and balance.
For any treatment, Melanie recommends 60-minutes for specific, targeted bodywork and 90-minutes for those seeking a more comprehensive session to ease full-body soreness or address multiple concerns.
More from Melanie about her story...
I have always been fascinated by the science of the human body, spirituality, and ancient healing practices. Since a child, I have been highly sensitive, empathic and intuitive. After earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Science & Chemistry, my personal healing path led me to the transformative world of Holistic Health Practices, Traditional Indigenous Healing and Energy Medicine for physical & emotional wellbeing. A variety of healers and holistic modalities helped me discover the root cause of my debilitating digestive issues, anxiety and depression and find ways to heal on multiple levels.
Along my journey, I followed an inner calling to apprentice with Elders Kimberly Hart, Selma Sroka, Maestra Rita Navarette and Master Curandero Laurencio Lopez Nuñez in the teachings of Ancient traditional Native American & Mayan Healing Practices. I was initiated into the lineage of the Curanderismo healing tradition by the elders. I also became certified as a Reiki Master, studied hands-on healing with Echo Bodine, and was a panel member of The Sistrum Channelers, where I provided spiritual guidance at monthly gallery group readings in the Minneapolis area.
I started my own Massage & Healing practice in 2017, after earning a second college degree, an Associate of Applied Science, in Western Therapeutic Massage and Eastern Shiatsu Therapy. I worked out of the Adagio Holistic studio and operated under the business name Melanie Metz Massage Therapy. In 2022, I founded a multi-employee business, Skyhaven Massage, in Uptown Minneapolis, where I assumed the roles of business owner, massage therapist and healing practitioner. In February of 2025, "Skyhaven Massage & Wellness" was sold to a new owner and I returned to private practice. In addition to being a Massage Therapist, I am a photographer @ MetzPhotos.com and storm chaser @ MelanieMetzStormChasing.com. Previously I have also worked as a research chemist, corporate training manager, and adult foster care provider.
I am currently treating all clients at the Adagio Holistic studio in South Minneapolis again, where I rent space along with other practitioners.
All are welcome!
